Approximately 2,370 students attended the Appomattox County Schools in the 2002-03 school year. The division has one primary school (grades pre-k-2), one elementary school (grades 3-5), one middle school (grades 6-8), and one high school (grades 9-12) that are all accredited by the Virginia Department of Education and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Over 200 administrators, classroom teachers, librarians, guidance counselors, special education teachers, resource teachers, and other personnel work together to meet the educational needs of our students. Programs are available at each school level to meet the varying abilities, interests and needs of the students. The June graduating class of Appomattox County High School included 147 graduates, 62% of whom planned to continue their education. |
