GOVERNMENT:

Appomattox County is governed by a five-member board of supervisors headed by a chairman.  The towns of Appomattox and Pamplin City are each governed by six-member town councils headed by a Mayor.

The County and Towns  have adopted  comprehensive plans including zoning ordinances. Both towns share a joint planning commission and Board of Zoning Appeals.
